United Nigeria Airlines on Monday handed over social media personalities Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkman, and Freedom Atsepoyi, widely called Mr Jollof, to airport security following an altercation during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at the Asaba International Airport in Delta State.
A video of the incident, which circulated widely online, showed the two influencers engaged in a confrontation inside the aircraft shortly before takeoff.
In a statement, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, confirmed the clash and said the crew acted swiftly and in accordance with aviation safety procedures to manage the situation. He explained that both passengers were immediately removed from the flight to protect the safety and comfort of others on board.
“United Nigeria Airlines confirms that an altercation occurred between two passengers, identified as Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkman) and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof), during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport on the morning of November 17, 2025,” the statement said.
Uloka added that the airline maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that threatens the security of passengers or crew. After handing the individuals over to airport authorities for investigation, the airline completed all required safety checks and the flight proceeded as scheduled.
“Both passengers were deboarded without delay to ensure the safety, comfort, and security of all other passengers and crew members,” the statement noted.
The authorities are expected to carry out further investigations into the incident.
