Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for including him among the 32 newly submitted ambassadorial nominees, calling the President “Christlike” and crediting him with teaching the value of forgiveness.
In a statement shared on X on Sunday, Omokri thanked Tinubu for what he described as “visionary and exemplary leadership,” saying he was honoured to serve his country in a new capacity.
“The President has taught me the meaning of forgiveness and has helped me better understand what patriotism entails. In short, Christlikeness is demonstrated in him,” he wrote. “He is the right man, at the right time, for the right job, and deserves the right hand of fellowship from all Nigerians.”
Omokri also paid tribute to his parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, whom he credited with shaping his character, and extended appreciation to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, whom he praised in glowing terms.
He attributed personal support during recent political tensions to his wife, Hana, describing her as a steadying presence throughout “three years that enemies of the President made me their foe” because of his public backing of Tinubu.
Omokri’s nomination forms part of a fresh batch of ambassadorial candidates forwarded to the Senate on Saturday. The list features several high-profile figures, including former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and former Enugu governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The Presidency said the nominees represent a mix of career and non-career diplomats. Their appointments will take effect after they undergo Senate screening and secure confirmation.
