The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, SAN, led members of the party’s National Working Committee on a solidarity visit to Niger and Kebbi states following recent attacks that left several communities distressed.
Turaki said the trip was meant to stand with affected residents during a difficult period, stressing that Nigeria must remain a country “where every child is protected and every community feels secure.”
During the visit, the delegation also met former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, with Turaki noting that the retired general’s guidance continued to inspire the party’s pursuit of unity, justice and national stability.
At the Niger State Government House, the PDP team held discussions with Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, where they expressed sympathy for victims and support for ongoing efforts to secure abducted citizens. Turaki emphasised that “no community deserves to live under the shadow of fear,” adding that the party backs all lawful measures to ensure the safe return of kidnapped residents.
In Kebbi State, the delegation delivered the same message of solidarity and praised the swift intervention by state authorities and security agencies that resulted in the rescue of schoolgirls abducted earlier in the month. Turaki said the successful operation brought relief, noting that all the girls were returned unharmed.
“Their safety is a victory not just for their families, but for every Nigerian who believes our children deserve protection, education, and peace,” he added.
