Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the boat accident in Yobe State that claimed several lives and plunged many families into mourning.
In a condolence message shared on his X account on Tuesday, Atiku described the incident as devastating and conveyed his sympathy to families affected by the tragedy. He said he stood in solidarity with them during the painful period.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost loved ones. I share in your pain at this difficult time,” he said.
The former vice president also expressed concern for families whose relatives are still unaccounted for, offering prayers for resilience and comfort as search and rescue operations continue.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those still missing. May God grant them strength, comfort and hope,” he added.
Atiku praised emergency responders and volunteers for their commitment and bravery, acknowledging their efforts to rescue victims despite difficult conditions.
He noted that the incident underscored the need for authorities to place greater emphasis on safety measures along inland waterways, particularly in rural areas, to prevent avoidable loss of lives in the future.
