Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has proposed the establishment of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) and the recruitment of 25,000 youths to bolster security across the state.
The appeal was made during a meeting at the Government House, Minna, with the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj. Gen. Warrah Idris.
Governor Bago urged immediate deployment of FOBs at strategic entry points—particularly Mailaka and Kurege in Mariga Local Government—describing them as critical to blocking the ingress of bandits.
“We are willing as a state to help you to recruit 25,000 youths to go after these people,” he told the theatre commander. Further details are awaited.
