CAF releases Round of 16 fixtures for AFCON Morocco 2025

The Confederation of African Football has published the full schedule for the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 following the conclusion of the group stage.

According to fixtures released on CAF’s official website on Wednesday, the knockout phase will be played from Saturday, January 3, to Tuesday, January 6, with two matches scheduled each day. Kick-off times are set for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time.

The Round of 16 will get underway on Saturday with 2021 champions Senegal taking on Sudan at the Grand Stade de Tangier. Later that day, Mali will face Tunisia in Casablanca, with Mali aiming for a maiden continental title while Tunisia look to build on their lone AFCON success in 2004.

Hosts Morocco are in action on Sunday, January 4, when they meet Tanzania at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. Morocco topped Group A, while Tanzania advanced as one of the best third-placed teams from Group C. The day’s second match will see South Africa face Cameroon, a reunion for Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos against the side he guided to AFCON victory in 2017.

Monday’s fixtures feature record seven-time champions Egypt against Benin at the Grand Stade de Agadir, as the Pharaohs continue their search for a first AFCON title since 2010. Later in the evening, Nigeria will play Mozambique in Fès, with the Super Eagles looking to improve on their runners-up finish at AFCON 2023 after an impressive group-stage showing.

The Round of 16 concludes on Tuesday with Algeria taking on DR Congo in Rabat, before defending champions Côte d’Ivoire face Burkina Faso in Marrakech.

CAF also confirmed that the quarter-finals will be held on January 9 and 10, while the final is scheduled for January 18 at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
