Federal Education Ministry Debunks Rumoured Nationwide School Closure

The Federal Ministry of Education has refuted a viral social media report claiming that schools across the country have been instructed to shut down from November 24, 2025.

In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry described the message as entirely false, stressing that it did not originate from the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any state ministry, or any recognised security agency.

The clarification, signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, urged the public to depend solely on verified information from official channels. The statement cautioned against sharing unverified notices, noting that doing so contributes to the spread of misinformation.

“Any announcement, advisory, or notice coming from unofficial or unverified sources should be ignored and not shared. Members of the public are urged to always verify the authenticity of information before circulating it,” the ministry said.

It reiterated that only communications from the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, state governments, or authorised security agencies should be regarded as credible.

The disclaimer follows the Federal Government’s directive issued on Friday ordering the temporary closure of 41 federal secondary schools located in high-risk areas, after recent student abductions in Niger and Kebbi States.

NobleQuestDaily earlier reported that several states—including Kwara, Plateau, Katsina, and Niger—had closed schools in response to escalating insecurity. In Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas directed all public and private secondary schools to deboard their students immediately, reverting to day-school operations.
