The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly been moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility in Abuja to a correctional centre in Sokoto State, according to his former lawyer and consultant, Aloy Ejimakor.
Ejimakor, who disclosed the development in a post on Friday, expressed concern over the transfer, stating that the relocation takes Kanu farther away from his legal representatives, family members, and supporters.
“While urging Ndigbo to remain calm, I must question the wisdom behind moving #MNK to Sokoto prison. When Awolowo was convicted in 1963, he was sent to the East, a neutral zone in his feud with the North. President Tinubu can still halt this drift, as I explained in this video,” he wrote.
Kanu was on Thursday handed a life sentence by the Federal High Court in Abuja after being convicted on seven terrorism-related charges— a judgment IPOB has dismissed as illegal and politically motivated.
As of Friday evening, NobleQuest Daily had yet to independently verify the reported transfer.
