Mbappé Arrives in Morocco Ahead of AFCON Group A Clash

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations Group A match between hosts Morocco and Mali.

French newspaper L’Équipe reported on Friday that the France international travelled to Morocco with his parents and younger brother, Ethan, using a brief pause in his club schedule.

According to the report, Mbappé accepted an invitation from Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, a close friend and former teammate from their time at Paris Saint-Germain. The two players have maintained a strong personal and professional relationship since their PSG days.

During his stay, Mbappé is expected to visit the Moroccan national team’s camp and spend time with Hakimi, who is close to returning to action after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in early November.

L’Équipe added that Mbappé is likely to remain in Morocco until Monday, December 29, when Real Madrid players are due to resume training. He may also attend other AFCON matches while in the country.

Morocco currently tops Group A with three points following a 2–0 victory over Comoros in their opening match. Mali and Zambia shared the points in a 1–1 draw in the group’s other fixture.
