Passengers Stranded in Ibadan as Oyo Shuts Bus Terminals for PDP Convention
Hundreds of inter-state travellers were left stranded in Ibadan on Saturday after major bus terminals across Oyo State were shut down to accommodate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention taking place in the city.
The unexpected disruption halted the movement of passengers heading from Oyo State to various parts of the country, forcing many to wait for hours or cancel their journeys altogether.
The two-day convention, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, has been engulfed in legal tussles, with two separate court rulings attempting to halt the exercise. Despite the conflicting orders, the faction led by Umar Damagum proceeded with the event, citing a fresh judgement obtained from an Oyo State High Court permitting the party to go ahead.
As the political drama unfolded, travellers bore the brunt of the terminal closures, with operators confirming they were instructed to suspend services until after the convention.
