School Shutdown Ordered in Plateau Over Rising Security Threats

The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board has directed the immediate closure of all schools across the state following heightened security concerns and recent attacks on educational institutions in northern Nigeria.

The decision comes in the wake of the abduction of 25 female students from Government Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi State earlier in the week, as well as another kidnapping incident at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Niger State on Friday.

NobleQuestdaily gathered that security reports indicated that several primary and secondary schools in Plateau State may also be targeted by terrorists.

In a statement issued by the Board, Government Junior Model Secondary Schools are to close from Saturday, 22 November 2025, while all primary and day schools are to shut down from Monday, 24 November 2025.

The Board described the directive as a temporary but necessary measure aimed at preventing possible attacks and reassuring communities that the safety of pupils remains a top priority.

It urged local government education authorities, school heads, and community leaders to comply fully with the directive and maintain a high level of vigilance.
