The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the final draw for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, January 15, 2025.
CAF made the announcement in a statement released on its official website on Wednesday, noting that the draw ceremony will begin at 2 pm local time, corresponding to 13:00 GMT and 15:00 Cairo time.
In addition to the draw, the continental football body said the same event will also feature the announcement of winners in several major women’s football award categories, including the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year.
According to CAF, the 2026 tournament will represent a landmark moment for women’s football on the continent, as the competition will be expanded to include 16 teams for the first time. The qualified nations are host country Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
CAF also disclosed that three women’s football awards will be decided ahead of the draw. These include the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year, the CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year, and the CAF Women’s Club of the Year.
The awards were initially scheduled to be presented during the CAF Awards ceremony on November 19, 2025, but were postponed because the women’s football season had not concluded at the time, largely due to the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.
Earlier in the week, CAF reopened voting for the three award categories. The organisation clarified that it does not take part in the voting itself but is responsible for coordinating and supervising the process.
Voting for the Women’s Interclub Player of the Year will involve media representatives, as well as team captains and coaches participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The Women’s Coach of the Year award will be determined through votes from the media and coaches of CAF member associations, while the Women’s Club of the Year will be decided by the media and the CAF Women’s Technical Committee.
