CAF Names Osimhen Among Finalists for 2025 Player of the Year Award

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named among the final three contenders for the 2025 CAF Player of the Year award, placing him in contention to retain the honour he won last year.

The Nigerian forward, now with Galatasaray, will compete against Egypt’s Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain. The Confederation of African Football released the shortlist on Sunday evening, confirming a strong field of finalists for the continent’s most prestigious individual football prize.

In the women’s category, Nigeria also secured representation as Rasheedat Ajibade made the final shortlist. She will vie for the award alongside Moroccan duo Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy.
