Chelsea FC interim head coach Calum McFarlane has revealed that the squad has been cautioned over repeated leaks of team information, insisting the issue has now been addressed ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash with Leeds United at Wembley.
McFarlane, who assumed temporary charge following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior after a 3–0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, confirmed that internal discussions had been held with both players and staff over professionalism and confidentiality.
The latest incident involved reports that the absence of João Pedro and Cole Palmer from the Brighton fixture was leaked on social media on the morning of the match.
The information was allegedly shared by an individual linked to defender Marc Cucurella, adding to a series of similar breaches in recent months.
Previous leaks had also surfaced during Chelsea’s campaign in the UEFA Champions League, including ahead of both legs of their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Addressing the matter, McFarlane said steps had been taken internally to resolve the issue but warned that further incidents would not be tolerated.
“It has been addressed, and we have spoken about the importance of ensuring it does not happen again. It is something that must stop,” he stated.
The interim manager also acknowledged broader concerns over the team’s recent performances, following criticism linked to remarks attributed to his predecessor regarding player commitment.
He stressed that both players and staff share responsibility for the team’s struggles and must improve ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
Chelsea head into the Wembley fixture seeking to stabilise after a difficult period marked by managerial changes, internal issues and inconsistent results, with McFarlane expressing confidence that a strong performance could help shift momentum.
