Karim Benzema has suggested he may be open to a reunion with Real Madrid, even as he remains uncertain about his long-term stay at Al Ittihad. The striker shared his thoughts in comments cited by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday.
Benzema said a return to the Bernabéu would be possible under the right circumstances. He noted that the presence of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez would be a key factor, describing his bond with the club as deeply personal.
He said he still considers himself a Madridista and maintains strong ties to the city he called home for more than a decade.
Regarding his current contract with Al Ittihad, which runs until June 2026, Benzema said his future remains undecided. He explained that several factors will determine whether he remains in Saudi Arabia or looks for a new chapter elsewhere.
Benzema, who scored more than 300 goals for Real Madrid and played a crucial role in their Champions League and La Liga successes, continues to enjoy immense respect among supporters.
He also urged fairness in the ongoing criticism of Vinícius Júnior, asking fans and analysts to recognise the Brazilian’s contributions to the team. According to him, Vinícius is a hardworking and talented player who deserves patience.
He said public pressure has mounted on the forward in recent weeks, but stressed that it would be wrong to overlook the influence Vinícius has had on Real Madrid’s recent campaigns.
Despite fluctuations in form and increased attention from supporters and the media, Real Madrid’s leadership remains confident in Vinícius’s ability to deliver decisive performances.
