Lionel Messi has added another milestone to his remarkable career, becoming the player with the highest number of assists in football history.
The 38-year-old reached the historic mark during Inter Miami’s emphatic 5–1 victory over New York City in the MLS Cup semifinal on Sunday, where he registered his 405th career assist. The decisive pass came in the 67th minute, setting up Mateo Silvetti as Miami sealed the Eastern Conference title.
The win sends Inter Miami into the MLS Cup final, where they will face Western Conference champions Vancouver on Saturday, December 6.
