Super Eagles Coach Buoyed by Full Payment Ahead of Afcon Challenge

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is said to be in high spirits and fully focused on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following the settlement of all his financial entitlements by the Nigeria Football Federation.

A report by Nigerian sports platform Sports Unlimited, citing a source based in Fez, Morocco, disclosed that the French-born coach has received his complete remuneration package, which includes his January 2026 salary.

The source noted that Chelle is financially comfortable and mentally prepared for the task ahead, having been paid a total of $60,000 so far, calculated at $20,000 per match. In addition, he is reportedly earning $400 per day since the team’s training camp opened in Egypt.

According to the source, the prompt payment has created a positive atmosphere within the team, with both coaching staff and players satisfied. Fans, the source added, have also expressed contentment, citing the team’s strong performances and winning run, with no controversies surrounding the camp.

Under Chelle’s guidance, Nigeria recorded three wins from three matches in the group stage and will face Mozambique in the round of 16 on Monday.
