Bayern Munich Enter Talks With Harry Kane Over Contract Extension

Bayern Munich are in discussions with England captain Harry Kane regarding a potential contract extension, the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has confirmed.

Kane joined the German champions from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 on a four-year deal reportedly valued at an initial €100 million (£86.4 million). Since his arrival in Munich, the striker has made a remarkable impact, scoring 119 goals and providing 30 assists in 126 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt on Tuesday, Eberl acknowledged ongoing talks with Kane, stating, “We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking. Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”

In October, Kane expressed openness to staying at Bayern, admitting that his desire to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit.”

This season, Kane has netted 34 goals in 30 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s side, including 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches, as he pursues Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season. He has also played a key role in Bayern securing second place in their Champions League group with one match remaining.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen added that Kane and his family are well-settled in Munich, emphasizing there is no immediate urgency to finalize an extension. “Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich. He and his family are settled in. Therefore, we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush,” Dreesen said.
