Boniface Returns To Training After Injury Layoff

Victor Boniface has stepped up his recovery from a long-term leg injury, posting footage of himself back in training after spending months out of action.

The Nigerian forward shared a short clip on his X account on Tuesday showing him performing strength and mobility drills, accompanied by a light-hearted caption that quickly drew supportive reactions from fans eager to see him return to competitive football.

The 25-year-old striker underwent knee surgery earlier this year following medical consultations in Austria. His club, Werder Bremen, confirmed in January that the procedure would sideline him for several months. According to the club, the operation was carried out in Innsbruck by specialist Prof. Dr Christian Fink after an extensive medical review.

During his rehabilitation, Boniface spoke openly about the emotional strain of his absence, admitting in previous social media posts that the past year had been difficult while also expressing gratitude and resilience as he worked toward a comeback.

His injury troubles date back to November 2024 and included a major abductor problem that forced him to miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Complications in recovery later ruled him out of Bremen’s opening fixture of 2026 against Borussia Dortmund.

Before the setbacks, Boniface had been in strong form, registering eight goals and one assist in 15 appearances, underlining the impact Werder Bremen hope he can rediscover once he is cleared for full competition.
