Fintiri Approves Civil Service Promotions, Assures Payment of Benefits by May

In a move aimed at strengthening public service morale and reinforcing confidence in government, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the implementation of outstanding promotions for civil servants in Adamawa State, with a firm assurance that all financial benefits will be paid before the end of May.

The governor made this known during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Labour Congress at the Government House. Addressing the delegation, Fintiri emphasized his administration’s continued commitment to the welfare, motivation, and career progression of workers in the state civil service. He noted that timely promotions and payment of entitlements are essential to maintaining efficiency and dedication within the workforce.

According to the governor, the approval is part of broader reforms targeted at revitalizing the civil service and ensuring that workers are not denied their due benefits. He stressed that his government remains intentional about creating an enabling environment where civil servants are encouraged to grow professionally while contributing meaningfully to governance.

During the visit, the labour union commended the administration for its worker-friendly policies and consistent engagement with labour stakeholders. The union also extended its sympathy to the government and people of the state over the recent attack in Guyaku community, describing the incident as unfortunate and calling for sustained efforts to ensure security across affected areas.

The Nigeria Labour Congress further used the opportunity to invite Governor Fintiri to the forthcoming Workers’ Day celebration, acknowledging his administration’s strides in prioritizing workers’ welfare despite prevailing economic challenges.

Members note that the governor’s decision to clear outstanding promotions and ensure prompt payment of benefits could significantly boost morale within the civil service, while reinforcing trust between the government and its workforce. As the end-of-May deadline approaches, many workers in the state are hopeful that the commitment will be fully realized, marking another milestone in the administration’s labour relations record.
