Rt. Hon. Muktar Betara Aliyu, OON, has once again reaffirmed his commitment as one of the most people-oriented political leaders in Northern Nigeria with the unveiling of a massive N200 million youth empowerment initiative targeted at improving the lives and economic prospects of young people within his constituency.
The lawmaker made the announcement while addressing thousands of youths who gathered at his residence in Biu, Borno State, in what many described as a moment of renewed hope and confidence in purposeful representation. According to Rt. Hon. Betara, the empowerment package will see 200 youths receive N1 million each as startup capital to establish and grow their businesses, thereby promoting self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and economic stability among young people in the constituency.
The announcement sparked excitement among the crowd, many of whom hailed the intervention as timely and impactful, especially in the face of current economic realities confronting many Nigerian youths. In addition to the N200 million youth support programme, Rt. Hon. Betara also disclosed plans to empower constituents with 100 vehicles across the constituency.
The federal lawmaker further revealed that several modern shopping complexes he has constructed within Biu Local Government Area will be allocated to constituents to encourage trade, commerce, and small-scale enterprise development. According to him, beneficiaries of the shops will not only receive access to the facilities but will also be supported with grants to enable them stock their shops and begin their entrepreneurial journeys successfully.
The latest intervention comes barely a week after Rt. Hon. Betara distributed over ₦300 million to various forums and groups across Biu Local Government Area as part of his continuous grassroots support initiatives. In another remarkable gesture announced today, the lawmaker also donated ₦50 million to the people of Bayo Local Government Area and an additional ₦50 million to the people of Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area, while he had a stop over in the two LGAs before reaching Biu, further expanding the reach of his humanitarian and empowerment efforts across the his constituency.
