Mbappé Downplays 400-Goal Milestone, Targets Even Greater Heights
Kylian Mbappé says he is far from satisfied after reaching 400 career goals, declaring that the milestone counts for little compared to the historic figures he hopes to emulate.
The Real Madrid and France forward, quoted by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on Friday, said his ambitions stretch well beyond the landmark many consider extraordinary.
“Four hundred goals don’t impress people,” Mbappé said. “I want to make my mark in football history, so I have to score at least 400 more.”
The 26-year-old referenced football’s most prolific scorers, noting that some legends boast career totals exceeding 900 goals. “There is one with 950+ goals, and another with 900+,” he added. “Four hundred isn’t enough to stay in the circle of players who shock people.”
His remarks reflect a familiar drive for excellence as he pursues further individual milestones while leading France’s and Real Madrid’s push for silverware.
Mbappé netted twice in France’s 4–0 victory over Ukraine in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier, continuing his strong scoring form.
