Oscar Stable After Heart Scare During São Paulo Training

Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar is in stable condition after suffering a heart-related episode during pre-season training with São Paulo FC on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old, who rejoined his boyhood club in December 2024, reportedly fell ill during routine fitness tests at the team’s training centre. Medical personnel from São Paulo and doctors from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were on site, provided immediate care before transferring him to hospital for further evaluation.

In a statement, São Paulo confirmed that Oscar experienced “cardiological changes” but was stabilised promptly. “He was taken to hospital, where he remains under observation for additional tests to clarify the diagnosis,” the club said.

Noblequestdaily report that the midfielder had been exercising on a stationary bike when he collapsed and briefly lost consciousness before regaining stability.

Oscar, who began his professional career at São Paulo before joining Chelsea in 2012, is reportedly considering retirement following the incident.

He signed a three-year deal running until 2027 after an eight-year spell with Shanghai Port in China. São Paulo, managed by former Chelsea and Argentina striker Hernán Crespo, expressed gratitude for the swift medical response and thanked fans for their messages of support.

Supporters across Brazil and the global football community have since sent their well-wishes, hoping for Oscar’s full recovery.
