Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has reaffirmed his happiness at Turkish giants Galatasaray following their 3–1 victory over Corendon Alanyaspor in a Turkish Super Lig fixture on Saturday.
The striker played a key role in the encounter, scoring once and providing an assist to help Galatasaray secure all three points.
Osimhen set up the club’s second goal in the 58th minute, delivering a precise pass for Lucas Torreira to finish. He later sealed the victory in the 83rd minute after capitalising on an error by Alanyaspor goalkeeper Paulo Victor. The Nigerian forward was substituted three minutes later for Mauro Icardi.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign so far, registering 10 goals and four assists in 16 league appearances for the Istanbul-based side this season.
Speaking to the club’s official media after the match, Osimhen said he is enjoying life both on and off the pitch at Galatasaray.
“I am very happy at Galatasaray. Every player is emotional. I celebrate most of the time, but there are times when I don’t celebrate. I was emotional in the last match, and I had a reason,” he said.
“Since I arrived, both my family and I have been having a great time with the president, the coach, the team, and everyone. They make everything very easy for us. I am happy here. I love my club, I love my coach, I love my fans. We conduct our business within a framework of mutual love and respect.”
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, the former Napoli striker said the team is approaching each game with focus and determination.
“We’re taking it one match at a time. The Beşiktaş match is a critical one. Of course, it will be a big match. A very high-quality team awaits us, but we also have a very high-quality team. We’ll go there for three points,” he said.
He noted that Galatasaray still have several crucial fixtures ahead, including league and cup commitments.
Osimhen also praised İlkay Gündoğan, explaining why he handed the captain’s armband to the experienced midfielder.
“He is someone I respect very much and he is very valuable to me. He is known worldwide, calm and motivating. He is someone we can always talk to. When he brought me the captain’s armband, it felt strange, so I gave it back so he could lead us. He deserves love.”
The striker further expressed gratitude to Galatasaray supporters, saying their warm reception since his arrival has meant a great deal to him.
“I didn’t know the fans were prepared. It was a surprise. Everything they’ve done since I arrived is very precious to me. We have fans who create a special bond with players beyond just football,” he said.
“I agree with what was written on the banner. We are a family, and family is more important than anything. I’m at a club I love, with people I love very much. We are enjoying every moment and I’m very grateful for their support.”
Osimhen added that the most important outcome of the encounter against Alanyaspor was the victory secured by the team.
