The Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Bishop David Oyedepo, has urged Nigerian youth to take full responsibility for their lives, warning that failure to do so could lead to disappointment and regret in the future.
Oyedepo, who is also the President of Living Faith Church International, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday. He stressed that taking responsibility is the foundation of every successful life and destiny.“
Responsibility is the price of every great destiny, and nobody is a failure until he or she looks for whom to blame for it,” he said.
The cleric explained that individuals who fail to embrace responsibility early in life risk becoming liabilities later on. He advised young people to take charge of their future and avoid making excuses for their shortcomings.
“If you fail or succeed in life, it is your choice,” Oyedepo said. “There is no star without a scar, and the scar of every star is sacrifice. When you leave your life to chance, you do not have a chance.”
He further encouraged young Nigerians to uphold integrity and moral discipline, describing character as a core ingredient of lasting success.
“Nothing devalues the worth of a man like a lack of character,” he noted, adding that the future of the world rests largely on the shoulders of today’s youth.
“The youth are the ones the world is waiting for, and they cannot afford to disappoint destiny or the great future that awaits them,” Oyedepo said.
