Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will link up with the Egyptian national team on December 15 as preparations intensify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Morocco.
The forward, who has not started in several recent games for Liverpool, has nonetheless earned praise from manager Arne Slot for his attitude and support within the squad. Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano quoted Slot on Tuesday as saying, “Mo Salah will travel for AFCON on December 15. Of course, a player is not happy if he’s not starting, but he was very supportive of his teammates. He’s a top professional.”
Salah, 33, has had a relatively quiet Premier League campaign with four goals in 13 appearances so far in the 2025–26 season, prompting discussions about his form ahead of the continental tournament.
Egypt will begin their AFCON journey on December 22 when they face Zimbabwe at the Grand Stade d’Agadir. They are grouped in Group B alongside Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
The Pharaohs will be counting on Salah’s wealth of experience and leadership as they push for a strong outing in Morocco.
