Super Falcons Secure Third Straight CAF Team of the Year Honour

Super Falcons Secure Third Straight CAF Team of the Year Honour

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been named the CAF Women’s National Team of the Year for the third consecutive time, extending their dominance after winning the award in 2023, 2024 and now 2025. The latest recognition reinforces their status as the continent’s most consistent and accomplished women’s football side.

The Falcons first received the honour in 2010 and went on to claim it again in 2014, 2016 and 2018, before embarking on their current run of consecutive wins.

Their 2025 award follows another successful year in which the team clinched a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. Nigeria edged hosts Morocco 3–2 in a tense final, a result that highlighted their resilience, tactical discipline and vast experience on the big stage.

For the Falcons, the recognition reflects not only their on-field achievements but also their continued evolution as women’s football grows increasingly competitive across Africa. Despite rising challenges from emerging teams, Nigeria has remained organised, cohesive and focused on maintaining high standards.

In the men’s category, Morocco’s U-20 team, fresh from winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup, was voted National Team of the Year.
