President Bola Tinubu on Sunday left Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year vacation, ahead of an official engagement in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The President is expected to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, scheduled for early January, following an invitation from the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the summit was described as a weeklong gathering of leaders from government, business and civil society aimed at advancing global dialogue on sustainable development.
The 2026 edition of the summit will be held under the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” with discussions expected to centre on linking innovation, finance and people to promote sustainable growth.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
The trip comes shortly after the President arrived in Lagos to observe the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
He was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
Earlier reports indicated that the President had departed Abuja on a three-state tour, during which he visited Borno State and commissioned projects executed by the Babagana Zulum-led administration in partnership with the Federal Government.
