Trump Signals Displeasure With Iran’s Proposal On Strait Of Hormuz

United States President Donald Trump is reportedly dissatisfied with a recent proposal from Iran aimed at easing tensions in the region.

The proposal, which includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, was discussed during a high-level meeting at the White House Situation Room involving senior national security officials.

Among those present was Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who indicated that the President is unlikely to accept the offer in its current form.

According to officials, the proposal defers key issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme to later negotiations—an approach that does not align with the administration’s stance.

Rubio noted that while the proposal represents an improvement on earlier expectations, any agreement must include firm guarantees preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

The development comes as Washington maintains pressure on Iran amid ongoing regional tensions, with Trump previously stating that any potential agreement would be dictated by U.S. conditions and timelines.

The President has also reiterated that there is no fixed deadline for resolving the broader conflict, signalling that negotiations could continue without immediate urgency.
