The Federal Government has announced Friday as a public holiday in observance of this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended congratulations to workers across the country, acknowledging their contributions to national development.
He commended Nigerian workers for their diligence and commitment, noting that their efforts remain vital to the country’s growth and economic progress.
The minister also urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, productivity and dedication, describing them as essential to achieving sustainable development.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and security of workers, as well as fostering an enabling environment for economic advancement.
While wishing workers a fulfilling celebration, the minister called on citizens to maintain peace and order, and to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity and hard work in nation-building.
