Jonathan Meets Tinubu At Aso Rock Amid Ongoing Regional Consultations

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which took place around 4 p.m., forms part of ongoing consultations between the two leaders on political developments in West Africa and Nigeria’s broader continental engagements.

Confirmation of the visit came from the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared photographs of the engagement on his X platform.

Images from the meeting showed both leaders in a relaxed discussion inside the President’s office, where a “Two-Year Milestone” document was also visible.

While no official details were provided on the agenda, the meeting is seen as a continuation of periodic engagements between the two figures.

Jonathan’s last visit to the Villa was in November 2025, shortly after his evacuation from Bissau amid political unrest linked to a coup involving forces loyal to Dinis Incanha.

At the time, Jonathan was leading an election observation mission under the West African Elders Forum and was evacuated following the detention of President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

The visit underscores continued high-level consultations between Nigerian leaders on regional stability and diplomatic engagement within West Africa.
