President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a series of appointments in key education agencies as part of efforts to strengthen institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Among the appointments, Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been named Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council, while Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue in his role as Registrar.
In the technical education sector, Babatunde Salako has been appointed Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education, with Idris Bugaje earlier reappointed as Executive Secretary for a second and final five-year term.
The President also approved the appointment of Bongfa Binfa as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam for a single five-year tenure. He succeeds Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose term ended in March 2026.
Prior to his appointment, Binfa served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Bonny and previously lectured at the Federal Polytechnic Idah.
In addition, Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has had her tenure renewed as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term.
Anunobi, first appointed in 2021, has overseen reforms aimed at modernising the institution, including the development of digital platforms such as the National Repository of Nigeria and the National Virtual Library.
The presidency noted that the appointments are expected to enhance governance, ensure continuity in ongoing reforms, and support the completion of key projects, including the National Library headquarters in Abuja.
