Former President Jonathan to Chair Launch of Victor Attah Biography in Abuja

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is set to preside over the public presentation of a new biography on former Akwa Ibom State Governor Obong Victor Attah, scheduled for next Thursday in Abuja.

Speaking at a news conference in Uyo on Friday, Udeme Nana, a member of the planning committee and former media adviser to Attah, said the event will also mark the statesman’s 87th birthday.

According to Nana, President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend as special guest of honour, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been invited as guest of honour. Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno will serve as the chief host.

Nana said the book, titled Attah: Architect of a New Democratic Dawn, chronicles the life, career, and political impact of the former governor. He described Attah as “one of the best presidents Nigeria never had,” noting that his leadership qualities, vision, and intellect would have been invaluable at the national level.

He added, “Since 1999, I have maintained that if Obong Attah had become President of Nigeria, he would have significantly transformed the country. He is a patriot, a deep thinker, creative, versatile, and exceptionally hardworking.”

Obong Victor Attah, a trained architect with academic qualifications from Leeds College of Art, Liverpool University, and Columbia University, served as Akwa Ibom governor from 1999 to 2007.

His administration is remembered for its investments in infrastructure, education, and urban development, particularly in Uyo. The state’s international airport is named in his honour.
