Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, is expected in Lokoja on Monday for a major reception ceremony to welcome a wave of new entrants into the party.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris, Kogi State Commissioner for Finance and Director of Mobilisation for the Tinubu/Ododo 2027 Continuity Support Group, said the visit would formalise the defection of several prominent political figures to the ruling party.

Among those slated for reception are former Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Ichala Wada; the Social Democratic Party’s deputy governorship candidate, Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi; as well as their supporters from all three senatorial districts.

The statement further listed other new entrants, including Mohammed D. Mohay of MS Square Group, Abdullahi Shehu Dansebe, Samuel James, Yahaya Ijowa, Mohammed Rukayat, Maaji Abubarkar Ahmed, Shatu Suleiman, Chief Dada Adeyanju, Umar Aminat, among others.

Party members across Kogi State were urged to accord the decampees a warm welcome, with assurances that the APC would integrate all newcomers into its structures and activities.

The reception is scheduled to hold at the Mohammed Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, commencing at 10 a.m., and party supporters have been encouraged to attend punctually.
