The Critical Youths Stakeholders Forum (CYSF) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State has issued a strong warning against what it described as attempts by “political jobbers” to penetrate the party’s ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff Banki, said the group is committed to enrolling new members across the state without regard to ethnic or religious lines. He emphasised that the youths would not hesitate to expose individuals attempting to manipulate or hijack the party structure for personal gain.
Banki accused unnamed “transactional and transitional politicians,” whom he described as Abuja-based figures with little grassroots presence, of trying to take control of the ADC in Borno. He urged the party’s national leadership to intervene and identify those allegedly working with the ruling party to weaken the ADC, which he said had recently become an attractive platform in the state.
“They are battling to hijack the soul and structure of our party in their desperate quest for personal relevance and political survival ahead of the 2027 general election,” he stated. “These politicians have been compromised and have remained in the opposition since 1999, using political parties as platforms for personal business.”
Banki further alleged that the individuals in question shift allegiances each election cycle, describing their loyalty as fleeting. He referred to them as “political parasites” who seek temporary relevance by capturing party structures and trading them for personal benefit.
Calling on founding members to remain vigilant, Banki warned against allowing these actors—whom he said wield little real influence—to dominate the ADC’s Borno chapter. He insisted that the party is “not for sale” and vowed that its integrity would not be compromised.
“These characters were the same people who made frantic efforts to sabotage our collective efforts during the successful unveiling of ADC in the State,” he said.
