The Senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Marshall Katung, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Wednesday during plenary in the Senate, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio reading Katung’s letter of defection to his colleagues.
In the letter, the lawmaker attributed his decision to what he described as deepening internal divisions within the PDP, saying the party had become fractured and increasingly unable to reflect the interests and expectations of the people of Kaduna South.
Katung said shifting political dynamics in the country informed his move, adding that he believed the APC offered a more viable platform to secure a stable and prosperous future for his constituents.
