More Rivers Lawmakers Withdraw Support For Impeachment Move

Two additional members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Barile Nwakoh and Hon. Emilia Amadi, have withdrawn their support for the impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu.

Nwakoh, who represents Khana Constituency I, and Amadi, representing Obio/Akpor Constituency II, made their positions known on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt.

The lawmakers called on their colleagues in the Assembly to discontinue the impeachment process, urging a reconsideration of the move against the governor and his deputy.

Their decision comes less than 24 hours after two other legislators, Hon. Silvanus Nwankwo and Hon. Peter Abbey, also publicly distanced themselves from the impeachment proceedings.

The growing number of lawmakers pulling out of the process signals deepening divisions within the Assembly over the proposed impeachment.
