Obasanjo Makes Quiet Visit To Babangida In Minna Ahead Of 2027 Politics

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday paid a discreet visit to former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, as political calculations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reliable sources said Obasanjo arrived at about 4:30 pm in a small convoy of four vehicles and departed roughly 30 minutes later.

He was received at the Bola Tinubu International Airport, Minna, by Niger State government protocol officials before being escorted to Babangida’s residence, in line with established tradition.

On arrival, Obasanjo was taken straight to a private sitting room within the house, where both elder statesmen held a closed-door meeting.

A source familiar with the visit said the encounter was deliberately low-key, with only a few aides present on both sides.

“Whenever they meet for political discussions, it is usually brief and private. IBB did not have many people around him, and Obasanjo also came with a very small team,” the source noted.

Although details of their conversation remain undisclosed, insiders suggested that the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections featured prominently in their deliberations.
