College Council Sacks Registrar, Three Others Over Misconduct

The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, has dismissed four senior officials of the institution, including the registrar and the librarian, over allegations of gross misconduct.

Those removed from office are the registrar, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Bello; the librarian, Yusuf Shehu Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Ibrahim Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, an internal council member representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.

The decision was announced in a statement issued by the acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol of the college. It said the dismissals were confirmed at the council’s seventh meeting held on January 31, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education in Abuja.

According to the statement, the action followed earlier suspensions and was based on the outcome of separate investigations carried out by a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education and the council’s investigative panel, both of which indicted the affected officers.

The council has also approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the Senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar pending further decisions.
