The All Progressives Congress has restructured the leadership of its National Convention Central Coordination Committee, removing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as chairman and appointing former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari in his place.
The party’s national convention is scheduled to hold on March 27 and 28, 2026.
The decision was announced in a statement signed by APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and published on the party’s official X account. According to the statement, the reconstitution followed consultations with party leaders and key stakeholders.
The party said additional sub-committees under the central body would be announced later.
Following the shake-up, Uzodimma was reassigned to serve as treasurer of the committee. The APC also increased the committee’s size from 73 to 90 members, adding new figures including Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior party members.
Under the revised arrangement, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Nigeria Governors’ Forum chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will serve as Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni remains secretary of the committee.
The latest adjustment comes only days after Uzodimma had been presented as chairman of the original 73-member committee, a step that had marked the start of intensified preparations for the convention, where new members of the party’s National Working Committee are expected to be elected.
