Encouraging updates have emerged regarding the fitness of two Super Eagles players, Samuel Chukwueze and Semi Ajayi, as both footballers move closer to returning to action after injury setbacks.
Manager Marco Silva of Fulham FC revealed that Chukwueze has resumed training ahead of the club’s upcoming Premier League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The winger had missed Fulham’s 3–1 victory over Sunderland AFC at the Stadium of Light last weekend due to injury concerns.
Speaking through the club’s official website, Silva indicated that the Nigerian international had trained well during the week and could be considered for selection, although a final decision would be taken after further assessment in training.
Chukwueze, who joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan during the summer transfer window, has been among the club’s standout performers this season. The winger has recorded three goals and four assists in 13 league appearances, making his potential return a timely boost for the London side.
In the EFL Championship, Hull City AFC manager Sergej Jakirović also confirmed positive progress in the recovery of defender Semi Ajayi.
Ajayi had missed several recent matches for Hull City, including fixtures against Preston North End, Swansea City AFC, Blackburn Rovers, Watford FC, Bristol City FC, Queens Park Rangers and Derby County while recovering from injury.
Jakirović disclosed that the Nigerian defender trained normally with the squad and could be considered for the upcoming match against Portsmouth FC or possibly the fixture against Ipswich Town FC scheduled for Tuesday.
Ajayi, who moved to Hull City last summer, has impressed in his appearances for the club, scoring once in 12 league matches. His physical presence, aerial strength and experience at the back have been viewed as important assets for the team.
Hull City will be hoping for his swift return as they continue their push for promotion to the Premier League.
