The All Progressives Congress has directed that all newly elected members of its executive committees across the country be formally sworn in, signaling the start of their official responsibilities within the party structure.
The directive was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. He stated that the inauguration of the officials must strictly comply with the provisions outlined in the party’s constitution.
Ward and Local Government congresses were conducted on February 18, with several states subsequently holding their congresses. Lagos and a number of other states concluded theirs on Tuesday.
While the earlier ward, local government and state congresses were not without contention—reports indicate that some dissatisfied members have sought legal remedies—the party’s national leadership maintained that all officials duly elected during the 2026 congresses should be inaugurated without delay.
Part of the statement read, “The All Progressives Congress hereby directs that the Ward, Local Government and State Executive Committees duly elected at the 2026 Congresses of the Party be sworn in or inaugurated today or soon thereafter in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Party’s Constitution.
“Our great Party wishes to thank all members, stakeholders and supporters for the peaceful conduct of Congresses around the country. Congratulations to all.”
