ADC Unveils Timetable For 2026 Congresses And National Convention

African Democratic Congress has announced the schedule for its 2026 nationwide congresses and national convention as part of moves to reinforce party structures ahead of future political activities.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party said the exercise is intended to renew leadership across all levels and deepen internal organisation in line with its constitutional provisions.

The statement was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

According to the party, the congresses will begin at the grassroots before progressing through successive levels of the organisation and ending with the national convention.

The process will start with polling unit and ward congresses, where members are expected to elect officials who will oversee local party activities.

This will be followed by local government and state congresses, leading to the emergence of leadership structures at broader administrative levels

The timetable released by the party sets the exercises as follows:

Polling Unit and Ward Congresses – Tuesday, April 7, 2026
Local Government Area Congresses – Thursday, April 9, 2026
State Congresses – Saturday, April 11, 2026
National Convention – Tuesday, April 14, 2026

The party said the nationwide exercise is designed to promote internal democracy, strengthen participation among members and prepare the ADC for more effective engagement in Nigeria’s political process.

It also urged party members across the country to take part actively and ensure that the congresses are conducted peacefully, transparently and in line with party guidelines
