ADC Denies Alliance Talks With PRP Ahead Of Court Ruling

The African Democratic Congress has dismissed reports alleging that it is engaged in discussions with another political party, particularly the Peoples Redemption Party, ahead of an anticipated court judgment on its leadership dispute.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the claims as unfounded and misleading.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports suggesting that the ADC is in talks with the PRP in anticipation of a court ruling. We wish to state categorically that this is not true,” the statement noted.

The party clarified that its leadership is not currently engaged in any form of negotiation or alliance with other political groups.

According to the statement, the ADC remains focused on challenging what it described as the unlawful actions taken against its leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission and other alleged political actors.

It maintained that overturning those actions is central to preserving the rule of law and strengthening Nigeria’s multiparty democratic system.

While reaffirming openness to broader opposition collaboration in the future, the party stressed that it is not considering abandoning its platform or entering into premature alliances.

The spokesman also urged the public to disregard speculation about possible defections or merger plans, describing such claims as baseless.

On the ongoing legal tussle, the ADC expressed confidence in the judiciary, stating that the courts would uphold democratic principles despite the current political tensions.

The party recently positioned itself as a rallying platform for opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, even as internal disputes and legal battles over its leadership continue to unfold.
