The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration following U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments and Washington’s recent designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
In a statement on Monday, the party said the development underscores mounting global concern over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation and governance failures.
The ADC warned that Nigeria may be running out of time to reverse its decline, citing deepening insecurity, weak diplomatic relations, economic mismanagement, and poor accountability under the current administration.
According to the party, the Tinubu government’s lack of coherent strategy has eroded public trust and weakened the nation’s standing on the international stage.
“Nigeria is losing its moral authority and strategic relevance because those in power are more focused on political survival than national interest,” the ADC said.
It urged the government to prioritise national security, restore international confidence, and implement transparent economic and governance reforms to prevent further instability.
