The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its schedule for the 2026 primary elections, detailing timelines for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, primaries, and a special national convention.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the timetable underscores the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and adherence to electoral regulations.
According to the schedule, nomination forms will be available for purchase from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while completed forms are to be submitted between May 11 and May 13.
Screening of aspirants is slated for May 14 and May 15, with results to be released on May 17. Appeals arising from the screening process will be heard from May 18 to May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants is expected on May 20.
Primary elections are scheduled to commence on May 21, with contests for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats to be conducted simultaneously at the ward level. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is fixed for May 25.
The party also indicated that its National Executive Committee will meet on May 26, ahead of a Special National Convention on May 27, where outcomes of the primaries are expected to be ratified.
ADC further outlined the cost of nomination forms for various positions, pegging the presidential form at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
In a bid to encourage broader participation, the party announced a 50 per cent discount for youths, as well as a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The party urged members, aspirants and stakeholders to comply fully with the timetable and guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary process.
