The All Progressives Congress has constituted a central committee to coordinate activities ahead of its national convention, naming Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as chairman and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as secretary.
The party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, announced the appointments in a statement on Monday, as preparations gather pace for the convention scheduled for March 27 and 28.
Basiru said the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as vice chairman of the 73-member Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 national convention.
The ruling party had earlier released a timetable covering its ward, local government, state and zonal congresses for the 2025/2026 cycle, processes expected to culminate in the national convention where new members of the National Working Committee will be elected.
Governors listed as members of the committee include Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Babagana Zulum (Borno), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto) and Agbu Kefas (Taraba).
Other members include APC Interim National Chairman Bisi Akande; former party chairmen Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu and Abdullahi Ganduje; Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris; and Minister of Defence Christopher Musa (retd.).
The committee also features senior federal lawmakers and former legislative leaders, among them Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
Former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim, Ken Nnamani and Ahmed Lawan are listed, alongside former Speakers Aminu Bello Masari, Patricia Etteh, Dimeji Bankole, Yakubu Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and other party stakeholders.
