PDP Wike-Backed Faction Schedules Emergency BoT, NEC Meetings for November 18
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has fixed an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee for Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The announcement was contained in a notice issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared by Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, on his X handle. According to the notice, both meetings will take place at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The BoT session is slated for 11:00 a.m., while the NEC meeting is scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m. The notice emphasised the importance of attendance, noting that “crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”
The development comes just days after the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, where several prominent figures—including Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu—were expelled over alleged anti-party activities.
Their expulsion followed a motion moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Bode George, and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga. The decision received overwhelming support from delegates after being put to a voice vote by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, signalling the party’s renewed push to address internal divisions.
