Rivers Assembly Backs Tinubu for Second Term, Cites Federal Projects

The Rivers State House of Assembly has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying the move reflects appreciation for key federal projects delivered in the state under his administration.

During its 37th Legislative Session on Wednesday, the House adopted a motion endorsed by 26 lawmakers and presented by the Leader of the Assembly, Major Jack (Akuku-Toru). The members said the endorsement was driven by the need to ensure continuity of development initiatives currently underway.

They recalled the President’s intervention during the state’s recent political crisis, describing his actions as timely and fatherly. According to them, Tinubu’s role in de-escalating tensions demonstrated a genuine commitment to peace and stability in Rivers.

The lawmakers also highlighted the President’s appointment of several Rivers indigenes into strategic national positions, saying it had strengthened the state’s relationship with the Federal Government and boosted political morale among stakeholders.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor I) praised Tinubu’s leadership style, calling him a compassionate figure committed to steering Nigeria toward economic recovery. He noted that the administration’s economic policies were already yielding positive and people-centered outcomes.

The Assembly concluded by pledging support for the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and promising to mobilise grassroots backing for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
