Supreme Court Voids Appeal Court Order In ADC Leadership Dispute

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has nullified the status quo ante bellum order earlier issued by the Court of Appeal in Abuja in relation to the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The ruling effectively restores the executive faction led by David Mark, reversing its earlier delisting by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, a five-member panel headed by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba held that the order issued by the appellate court was unnecessary.

The apex court further ruled that the appeal challenging jurisdiction was improperly filed, noting that it arose from an ex parte order directing parties to show cause without first securing the required leave of the Court of Appeal.
